Are there women working in the oilfield?
Yes. Women work across oil and gas — in drilling, completions, wireline, engineering, safety, trucking, operations, inspection, maintenance, laboratories, project management, and leadership roles. Some of the most physically demanding rig-floor positions remain heavily male-dominated in practice, but that reflects historical workforce patterns more than any requirement that the work can only be done by men. Anyone considering field work, regardless of gender, is better served focusing on the actual job requirements — schedule, physical demands, living arrangements if the role involves travel, and a specific company's culture and safety expectations — than on assumptions about who typically does the job. Employers generally care most about whether someone can safely perform the work, function well as part of a crew, and meet the role's training and schedule requirements.
